Our story

A note from our founder, Monica Scalf

When I was growing up, I was fascinated by my mom’s stories about the world of work. Like some of my favorite books and after-school shows, the workplace seemed to have the makings of a great real-time story: high stakes, fascinating plot developments, and complex characters.

Two degrees and several years later as a college professor, I was still deeply intrigued by the daily experience of everyday employees. I felt sure there was a way to bring my passion for education, people development and wellbeing to the corporate world. This desire to help employees work and live well inspired me to start The Work Well Group in 2009.

Now, 15+ years later, that initial dream has grown into a thriving executive coaching, education and consulting practice beyond my expectations. Through custom coaching, teaching, and training, we partner with organizations in every industry to help employees at every level build the leadership skills they need to have better days at work — producing a better experience for individuals and better results for organizations.

Through modern, learner-centered training and coaching, we help make the workplace a better place — for people and for profit. I’m so thankful to get to do what I love every day, and I can’t wait to partner to help your organization thrive by teaching your people to work and live well.

What sets us apart

A modern, research-based approach

Workplace training doesn’t have to be boring. In fact, learning that’s engaging, creative, and enjoyable is much more likely to be effective. We draw on the latest research in education, motivation, performance, and human development to bring you learner-centered training that’s designed for impact and lasting change — not checking off a box.

A partnership model

People development works best when it builds on the culture you are already cultivating. We partner with organizations to create integrated learning solutions that scale. Upfront strategy helps us understand your values and customize our workplace-tested solutions to fit your needs. Then, employees learn concepts in group settings that can be deepened, practiced, and mastered in team and individual settings.

Your people’s success at the heart

At the Work Well Group, we emphasize something other training companies don’t — the connection between employee wellness and workplace results. When your people understand themselves and each other better, they’re able to communicate, collaborate, and connect more effectively — leading to a better daily experience, improved performance, and more success for your people and your organization.
